Industrial hemp is a crop that has many, many uses. However, the problem of processing the hemp, in addition to the legal headaches, has made large scale production a problem. CannaSystems is in the process of solving that problem by bringing Hemp Decorticators to North America. Mass production of industrial hemp can create a circular economy (an economy that is restorative and regenerative and aims to maximize utility and value...) >> view Circular Economy info
HEMP DECORTICATOR DEVELOPED BY TCI AUSTRALIA
(Now through Austeng Engineering & Bannockburn Maintenance & Engineering)
From the CannaSystems website regarding the cannabis decorticator: "Industrial Decorticator designed to process hemp fibres in one pass. Green or dried stalk material is fed to the system. Core is ejected out the back and fibre is collected under the machine stands. New design by Austeng Engineering provides further automation and increases material feed. We are bringing the new system design in to North America for 2016."
Bruce Ryan has developed an entire presentation about the D8 Cannabis Decorticator; view on SlideShare. He has also written a moving tribute, called "Unsung Cannabis Heroes", about the late Adrian Clarke, the D8 Decorticator's creator, who passed in 2015.
The article outlines the battles Adrian faced trying to get the hemp decorticator to market (and now his brother is carrying on and Austeng Engineering and Bannockburn Maintenance & Engineering are working to keep the project moving forward.) The photos at right show the D8 and Adrian Clarke.
